Special Collection Events

Through our contract with Waste Management, the City of Osawatomie Solid Waste and Recycling calendar provides special collection days for the community, including two annual City-wide clean up days and a tire collection day.

City-Wide Clean Up Days

Twice a year residents are invited to participate in City-Wide Clean Up Days. One City-Wide date allows residents to set bulky or irregular items on the curb for pickup by Waste Management collection crews and the other is a self-service drop off event with designated dump sites located around town. Specific instructions, times, and other event details are made available as the dates draw near. Rules for individual events may change depending on local circumstances, so please check the latest news before the next pickup event!

For the curb-side event, all items must be CURBSIDE by 7:00am on the Saturday of the event but we ask that you please not set items at the curb until 72 hours prior to pickup. ALL ITEMS MUST BE ABLE TO BE PICKED UP BY TWO PEOPLE -- no cast iron stoves!

The following items are allowable for pickup or drop off:

– Furniture
– TVs or Electronics
– Mattresses (Wrapped in Plastic) or Box Springs
– Rugs/Carpets (Rolled & Tied)
– Lawn Mowers (Oil & Gas Drained)
– Other Irregular, Non-Hazard Items

The following items are not allowed and will not be picked up or permitted to be dropped off:

– Tires
– Appliances of Any Kind/Size
– Limbs or Yard Waste
– Regular Household Trash
– Batteries, Paint, or Other Hazardous Materials
– Construction or Demolition Material

Tire Collection Day

The annual Tire Collection Day, usually held in late spring or early summer, allows up to six automobile tires (no tractor tires) to be stacked curbside. Tires must be off of rims and separated from regular household trash.
