News and Announcements
 

  • October 2023 - Eleven of our twelve charging stations are installed and online! One final station will be installed as part of our upcoming 6th Street reconstruction. Find a charger by visiting ChargePoint's website!
  • September 25th, 2023 - Join us for a FREE webinar geared at helping communities prepare for the transition to electric vehicles! The training session is hosted by the National Fire Protection Association and funded by the US Department of Energy. PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED - Sign Up HERE
  • August 2023 - The first dual charging stations have been installed in high-traffic areas of Osawatomie, including two in the downtown corridor and one inside John Brown Memorial Park. More station locations are being scouted and prepped for installation over the coming months. Once the stations are installed and fully online, they are operated by ChargePoint, the largest EV charger network in the world!
  • October 29th, 2022 - We awarded four Osawatomie Middle School students over $500 in prize money for their incredible poster designs based on Osawatomie: Charging Forward! Check out the posters and other contest winners!
  • October 29th, 2022 - The City of Osawatomie and Metropolitan Energy Center will be hosting the first of five COMMUNITY FORUMS on EV stations and rural sustainability. This public forum is YOUR opportunity to give feedback on the project, gain information on future goals, and ask any questions to City staff and MEC representatives. LEARN MORE on our event page!
  • August 11th, 2022 - The City of Osawatomie and Metropolitan Energy Center cut the ribbon during a dedication ceremony for the first charging station locations, located across from City Hall at the intersection of 5th and Main Streets. The dedication ceremony included remarks from City Manager Mike Scanlon, Mayor Nick Hampson, and Miriam Bouallegue from Metropolitan Energy Center before the City Council and other MEC representatives joined the speakers for the celebratory ribbon cutting.
