Here are some frequently asked questions from homeowners within the annual Porchfest neighborhood(s). Please reach out to City staff if you don't see your question answered here, or if you would like more information!
When do musicians play?
Musicians are instructed to setup to be ready to play at the top of the hour and will play for one hour sets only.
Can musicians put out a tip jar on my property?
Musicians are encouraged to put out tip jars or other tip collection methods while they are performing. They have volunteered their time and talent for the afternoon and we are glad if people want to express their appreciation.
What happens after musicians are finished performing on my property?
As soon as their sets are completed, musicians are to immediately pack up any equipment or other fixtures and remove them from volunteered property. If another musician is scheduled for later in the afternoon, they may begin setting up as soon as the previous set is cleared away.
Will there be public restrooms available during Porchfest?
At least two portable public restrooms will be available for attendees and performers. Homeowners are under no obligation to offer such services or access. Your participation in our event starts and stops at the front door!
Will I need to provide any equipment for musicians?
No! Musicians have been instructed to provide all their own equipment, including extension cords if necessary. Access to outdoor electrical outlets may be required by some acts, but not all. Please visit with an event organizer if you have specific concerns.
Do I need to move my car?
If at all possible, residents are politely requested to remove cars from on-street parking or driveways where they may block attendee view or performance space.
Can I access my driveway during the event?
To keep all guests safe, vehicular traffic will not be allowed on Brown Avenue between 9th and 11th for the duration of the event. Barricades will go up between 12pm and 1pm while organizers and musicians load-in and setup. There will be NO traffic allowed once the event begins at 2pm until its conclusion at 6pm. We encourage residents to utilize any alleyway access that might be available behind their home if they need to enter or leave the neighborhood while Porchfest is happening.
Other "Need to Knows" for Porchfest:
- Volunteers will remove any trash left behind in the Porchfest Zone by attendees
- Day-of questions or concerns should be directed to event organizers (Sarah Dorsett, 913-731-2162)
