City of Osawatomie Public Works officials have announced a road closure along 6th Street as part of the ongoing work for the 6th Street Reconstruction project. This will affect traffic from the north side of the Main St intersection to the south side of the Derrick Jensen Overpass and is scheduled to begin on October 3, 2024, after morning school traffic. This closure is necessary to remove the existing road base and prepare the lanes for new concrete.
During the closure, east-west traffic will still be able to cross 6th Street at Parker Ave, providing continued access to local businesses such as Dollar General and Casey’s. Additionally, Landmark Bank will remain accessible via its Main Street entrance. No traffic will be able to travel southbound on 6th Street from the Derrick Jensen Overpass. The remainder of 6th Street will remain open to one-way southbound traffic, though the Brown Ave intersection will continue to be closed to east-west traffic. The map below shows the closure.

For any questions or concerns about the road closure, please contact Michele Silsbee, Deputy City Manager, at 913-755-2146 ext. 231 or via email at [email protected].
The City of Osawatomie appreciates your cooperation and patience as we work to make these vital improvements to our roadways.
