Solicitor Permits Approved

permit required

There are currently several active solicitor permits in town following this week's severe weather events. While multiple knocks on the door can be frustrating, please note that the City is required to follow its code regarding solicitors. If an applicant meets all requirements, we do not have the legal authority to deny the permit or limit how many are issued. Solicitor permits are not an endorsement of any company or individual. They are a public safety tool that allows the City to verify who is going door to door and helps protect residents from fraud, misrepresentation, and other potential crimes. Residents can always choose not to engage, and we encourage reporting any suspicious activity to local law enforcement.

If a solicitor cannot provide proof of permit, please direct them to City Hall so we can work with them on obtaining the proper paperwork. Alternatively, you may also call Osawatomie Police Department's non-emergency line (913-755-2101) if City Hall is closed and alert them to the activity.

Additionally, representatives from the Kansas Attorney General's Office are in town today, April 17th, 2026, ensuring that all roofers operating in the City of Osawatomie are registered with the AG's Office as required by law. City officials have been made aware of one company that has failed to register with both the AG's office AND the City - Brandon J. Roofing. Please report any interactions with this company to Osawatomie Police Department’s non-emergency line.
