ROAD CLOSED: Main Street Terrace

Main Street Terrace is completely impassable due to extremely wet and muddy conditions in the construction zone. The City of Osawatomie Public Works Department is asking for all vehicular traffic to please avoid the neighborhood until further notice. If at all possible, please park your vehicle outside of the construction zone and walk to your destination.

Public Works Director Michele Silsbee noted Friday morning that Killough Construction, the contractor leading the street project, attempted to mitigate the potential for poor conditions but an unexpected amount of moisture under the road base made the task difficult. The nearly 1" of rain received overnight worsened conditions beyond expectations, and more rain is in the forecast for Friday and through the weekend.

Staff is currently working with Killough and our engineering partners on solutions or other alleviating options.
