Fifth Street Terrace Utility Work Continues

SECOND PHASE Announcement | 8/5/2025
City of Osawatomie officials have announced that a second phase of utility work for 5th Street Terrace is to begin on Wednesday, August 6th, 2025. Contractors will be installing the water line and making the final tie-in on Kelly Avenue, which means water service to surrounding neighborhoods (as indicated in the map below) will be unavailable from approximately 9:00am to 12:00pm on Wednesday. Related to this utility work, Kelly Avenue between 5th Street and 6th Street will be closed to all traffic for at least one week beginning today (Tuesday, August 5th).
Please contact our Director of Utilities, Terry Upshaw, with specific questions or concerns at (913) 755-6800.
Update | 7/22/2025 1:37pm
Contractors were unable to complete the work as anticipated today due to a shipping delay of equipment/parts. Work will resume tomorrow, Wednesday July 23rd, 2025. As was communicated originally, water service to Pop's RV Park will be unavailable from approximately 9:00am to 1:00pm and neighboring services may be impacted should the work necessitate additional valve closures. Officials will distribute additional notices if more services must be impacted.

City of Osawatomie officials have announced that utility work is slated to begin on the 5th Street Terrace subdivision (the parcel known locally as 10 Acres) on Tuesday, July 22nd, 2025. The first phase of work includes water line tie-ins performed by a third-party contractor. Because of the project's proximity, water service at Pop's RV Park, located at 6th Street and Kelly Avenue, will be unavailable on Tuesday from approximately 9:00am to 1:00pm while work is performed.
While officials are not anticipating a larger interruption, please be advised that neighboring water services indicated by the red outline below may be impacted if the work requires additional valves be turned off to be successfully completed. Officials will distribute a notice through the regular channels should a larger service interruption be required.
