6th Street Restricted to Southbound Only

6th Street Construction Progress

City of Osawatomie officials have announced that 6th Street will only be open to southbound traffic through the entirety of the corridor beginning Monday, September 9th, 2024. Until now, northbound traffic had been allowed between Lincoln Avenue and Brown Avenue as construction crews worked on the southern sections of the corridor.

9.6.2024 6th Street Update

Construction continues in the northbound lane and traffic flow will be limited to southbound only until further notice to accommodate crews, equipment, and demolition activities. The reconstruction project includes removal of previous road materials, grade correction, a new base, and all new concrete curbs, gutters, and sidewalks from Lincoln to Kelly. Homes and businesses will receive new driveway approaches, and the entire corridor has had critical improvements made to its stormwater systems and other utilities. Concrete in the second lane is scheduled to begin September 16th, weather permitting.

All 6th Street businesses remain open and accessible throughout the construction project, though some may be utilizing alternative entrances while work immediately impacts their property.
