6th Street Reconstruction Project Update

City Officials Announce 6th Street Reconstruction Project has hit 90% Completion
Road Work Update

Public Works officials are excited to announce another significant milestone in the 6th Street Reconstruction Project. As of December 11, 2024, the 6th St and Main St intersection will reopen by the end of the day. Traffic flow will continue to be restricted to southbound only between Parker Ave and Pacific Ave; however, the remainder of 6th Street is now open to both northbound and southbound traffic. This marks another major step forward in completing this transformtive infrastructure improvement.

90% complete

Earlier this week, all the curb and gutter around the Main St intersection were successfully poured. While the intersection will reopen to vehicles, drivers are asked to avoid driving on the curbs, as they require additional time to cure. Cones will be placed in key areas as a precautionary measure to keep the new curbs safe. The west side of the project is nearly complete, with only a few small sections of sidewalk remaining. On the east side, sidewalk construction will continue over the next two weeks as crews work to finish this phase of the project. Additionally, the installation of new streetlights along the corridor has begun, enhancing both safety and aesthetics.

With the completion of this last intersection, the 6th Street Reconstruction Project is now 90% complete, and the finish line is in sight! We thank the community for their patience and cooperation throughout this extensive process!
