Northland Residential

On August 18, 2022 a letter was mailed to all Northland residents and property owners following a petition being delivered to the City requesting the deannexation of their properties. The City Council will take formal action on this request at their September 8, 2022 meeting. Due to the nature of the request, and the ramifications and complexities involved with deannexation, the City Council has granted city staff the opportunity to meet with all of the Northland property owners and residents on September 1, 2022 at Memorial Hall, 411 11th Street, Osawatomie, KS 64064.

This meeting will provide the latest information that we have in regards to:

  • potential sanitary sewer connections and costs;
  • potential transfer of the electric utility to the City of Osawatomie;
  • future plans for street maintenance and repairs;
  • planned development of a bike trail to the west of the area;
  • potential change in trash/recycling and bulky-item services; and
  • potential reduction in property tax payments by property owners if the area were deannexed.

Additionally, we will be placing information relevant to this meeting on our web site for the duration of this process, so please check daily for the latest information on the Northland Residential Deannexation.
