[From Osawatomie Police Department]

"At approximately 5:30 a.m., the Osawatomie Police Department received a report of a missing patient and an employee from the Osawatomie State Hospital. The missing patient was reported to be 18-year old Salvadore Reyes III, and the missing employee 20-year old Jamey Anderson.

Early in the investigation, Anderson’s white Toyota Rav 4 was located in the area of 295th and Osawatomie Road. It was later determined that Anderson had run out of gas, and she and Reyes then continued on foot northbound on Osawatomie Road. After several reported sightings from the public, law enforcement focused resources on the south side of the Hillsdale State Lake. With the use of drones, multiple K-9 Units and KHP Air Support, the two individuals were located in a tree line east of the dam. Both individuals were taken into custody without incident.

Salvadore Reyes III was taken into custody and booked into the Miami County Jail on charges of:

  • Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Escape
  • Aggravated Escape from Custody
  • Interference with Law Enforcement

Jamey Anderson was taken into custody and booked into the Miami County Jail on charges of:

  • Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Escape
  • Aiding Escape
  • Unlawful Sexual Relations
  • Obstructing Apprehension or Prosecution

I [Chief Stuteville] would like to acknowledge the enormous amount of resources used to bring this morning’s incident to a successful conclusion.
