Electric Outage Update

As staff members at Osawatomie State Hospital prepared to change the Hospital's electric provider from Evergy to the City of Osawatomie, an error within a switching procedure caused a circuit to trip and inadvertently killed power to the Osawatomie community. This outage occurred at 7:55am on Monday, May 1, 2023, and lasted for approximately 15 minutes. Most places saw power restored within five minutes. This was an unplanned outage.
The City of Osawatomie Electric Distribution team does not anticipate any future electric disruptions as part of this project and is planning for a seamless transition.
