Current Road Closures and Notices

Paving the Way Sees Big Progress in August
Road Closure Notice

Progress continues with our current Paving the Way road rehabilitation and reconstruction projects. These large-scale improvements are part of our community's critical infrastructure. Main detours are developed with the largest and heaviest traffic in mind, such as semi-trucks and other heavy machinery that cannot navigate residential neighborhoods or side streets.

Here are the most current notices for road closures or other traffic disruptions:

road closures

- Main Street (7th to 12th) remains closed to ALL TRAFFIC unless special arrangements have previously been approved by Public Works for directly impacted residents. Storm sewer installation on Main Street is due to massive improvements along Brown Avenue.

- Brown Avenue (7th to 12th) remains closed to THRU TRAFFIC at this time. Residents and necessary visitors are allowed to pass onto Brown Avenue from the south to access driveways, etc. Please enter from the closest cross street possible. Some sections of Brown Ave may be impassable due to active construction.

- Due to non-City utility line conflicts, the alley between Brown and Main will be intermittently impassable at 7th, 8th, and 10th.

- Active work at the eastern end of Brown Ave will require the occasional blockage of 7th Street between Brown and Main during contractor working hours (6:00am to 4:00pm).

- The main detour route from east to west is Main Street to 6th Street, 6th Street to Pacific Avenue, and Pacific Avenue to 12th Street.

- If a slow or stopped train necessitates travel on the Derek Jensen overpass, traffic may divert through John Brown Memorial Park and Parker Avenue. If possible, the contractor will work to open 7th Street in the case of a stopped or stalled train.

As with all outdoor construction, these closures are weather dependent.

Working with our engineering and contractor teams, we are doing our best to make these delays as short-lived as possible. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding. Please contact our Public Works Department or our City Manager if you have additional concerns or questions.
