Additional Road Closure Notice

7th Street Between Brown Ave. and Main Street
road work ahead

City of Osawatomie Public Works officials have delivered notice of an additional road closure related to the Brown Avenue reconstruction project.

While Main Street between 7th and 12th remains closed for critical storm sewer replacement and upgrades, contractor work on the eastern end of Brown Avenue requires that 7th Street (between Brown and Main Street) be closed for the next several days. Please avoid the area and do not move or drive around posted barricades. Detours will temporarily be adjusted to 6th Street until this leg of construction is finished. The closure of 7th is limited to contractor working hours, which generally run from 6:00am to 4:00pm, or when safety necessitates it remain closed overnight.

If residents need access to the alley between Brown and Main, please utilize Pacific Avenue to 8th Street and enter the alleys. DO NOT attempt to access Main Street via 8th Street as there are open trenches. Main Street from 12th Street to the east side of the 9th Street intersection will be reopened on Monday, August 28th, 2023 following the completed upgrade of storm sewer across Main Street at 10th Street. Please do not cross the intersection until it is reopened by our Public Works officials to avoid disturbing the freshly-poured concrete while it cures.

Brown Avenue remains closed to through traffic from 7th to 12th Streets. This is the largest reconstruction project the community has undertaken as part of the Paving the Way program, which was initiated in early 2021.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we work to improve the critical infrastructure of our community.
