Scam Alert - Be Aware of Fraud Calls

City of Osawatomie utility staff received notice from a resident of a fraud phone call attempt regarding utility billing today, January 31st, 2024.

Staff members would like to remind residents that our utility billing staff will never call to collect past-due utility bills, and will never call to collect a payment to avoid shut-off of utility services. If you receive a phone call from someone claiming to be working on behalf of the City of Osawatomie regarding utility shut-offs, please hang up the phone and do not provide them with any personal information. To help us track down these fraud attempts, please also consider reporting the call to the Osawatomie Police Department.
