Announcing Winter Reading (for Adults!)

'Tis the season for reading! We're so excited to announce that Winter Reading (for our adult patrons) is here -- check out our calendar for December and January, and don't forget to keep track of your participation with our BINGO cards!

Winter Reading runs from December 2nd, 2024, to February 3rd, 2025. There are six amazing prizes available this season, including:

  • Tarot Card "The Reader" Book Tote
  • "There's No Such Thing As Too Many Books" Book Tote

Make sure to pencil us in for these great events! Supplies are limited, so please call ahead to reserve your spot for any event that you'd like to attend:

  • Friendship Bracelets on December 13th
    • This FREE, all ages event celebrates the beauty of friendship (with a little bit of inspiration from Taylor Swift). Join us from 5pm-7pm for an evening of singing, dancing, and reliving the memories from all our favorite eras.
  • Decorative Pie Plate DIY on December 19th
    • Add a little holiday magic to your home with this FREE adult DIY. We're making a decorative pie plate pulled straight from the walls of Mrs. Claus' North Pole bakery! This is a FREE event for adults, and it begins at 6:00pm.
  • "Silent Night" At-Home Read-a-thon on December 27th
    • The holidays are busy time of year for everyone, so here's a chance to unplug, unwind, and enjoy a Silent Night of reading a new book or a familiar favorite. To participate in this event, simply spend one hour reading/listening to a book of your choice and snap a photo of your cozy setup. Upload it to social media using #OPLsilentnight -OR- show a librarian on your next visit to mark it off your bingo card.
  • "Hygge" At-Home Read-a-thon on January 2nd
    • Danish for "cozy" or "contentedness," hygge is all about relishing the small comforts and joyful moments in life. Hygge is most often associated with spending quality time with loved ones away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, such as an evening stroll or a picnic in a favorite park. To participate in our version of hygge, spend one hour reading/listening to a book of your choice and snap a photo of your setup. We encourage inviting a friend or loved one to join you! Upload your photo to social media using #OPLhygge -OR- show a librarian on your next visit to mark it off your bingo card.
  • "New Year, New Menu" Recipe Booklet DIY on January 16th
    • Refresh your weeknight routine with a new dinner menu for your family! At this FREE adult DIY event, we're browsing the hottest cookbooks of 2024 and putting together custom recipe booklets perfectly tailored to our families and lifestyles. Participants will take home a spiral bound booklet with 10-15 recipes they handpicked from our collection. Join us beginningat 6:00pm.
  • Sip & Solve on January 30th
    • Puzzles, word games, riddles, brainteasers, and mocktails -- need we say more? Join us at 6:00pm for this FREE event for those who enjoy flexing the muscles of the mind.
