Freedom Festival 2025
Address
Join us for the annual Freedom Festival in John Brown Memorial Park as part of the "Signature Event Series" sponsored by the City of Osawatomie and hosted by the John Brown Museum State Historic Site!
This fun, family-friendly, and FREE event takes place each year inside John Brown Memorial Park and features a variety of Civil War-era performances, special museum tours, dramatic lectures, and other immersive activities to transport people of all ages back to the beginning of our community. This year's festival features stellar portrayals of John Brown, Frederick Douglass, and Abraham Lincoln -- a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to hear from the Leopard, the Lion, and the Emancipator on the very ground where the Civil War first sparked!
Events begin at 10:00am on Saturday, September 20th and continue through 5:00pm on Sunday, September 21st. Between performances, enjoy a treat from local food and beverage vendors, visit the John Brown Musuem and take in a specially guided tour from Mary Buster (John Brown's great-great grandniece), or browse the craft and artisan tables. See the timeline below for individual performance information.
Visit the John Brown Museum State Historic Site on Facebook to learn more about this year's lineup, presenters, and activities!
