Mill and Overlay Project Set to Begin in Osawatomie

The City of Osawatomie is launching another round of roadway improvements through a mill and overlay project targeting several high-traffic areas. This maintenance strategy involves milling off the top 2 inches of worn asphalt and replacing it with 2 inches of fresh material to improve driving conditions and extend the life of the roadway.
Planned treatment areas include:
-Chestnut Avenue from 8th Street to 12th Street
- 7th Street from Main Street to Pacific Avenue
- Main Street from 1st Street to the highway interchange
- The library parking lot
In addition, the contractor will perform patching in the 500 and 600 blocks of Main Street. This section was selected for patching—rather than full resurfacing—due to an upcoming water main replacement beneath the roadway. Once the utility work is completed, a full mill and overlay will be scheduled as part of a future phase.
Drivers should expect temporary closures, lane restrictions, and other traffic control measures in the work zones. Please use caution and plan for possible delays. Intermittent rain delays are also expected over the coming weeks.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to maintain and improve Osawatomie’s infrastructure.
