Gearing Up for Road Work | Paving the Way 2023

Pre-Construction Meeting Confirms Plans
paving the way update

The City of Osawatomie is preparing to move forward with the planned construction season as work is confirmed for the next slate of streets in our multi-year Paving the Way Street Rehabilitation Plan.

Beginning in mid-March, pending weather delays, Ottawa contractor Killough Construction will begin the full-depth reconstruction of 18th Street near the western edge of Osawatomie. This is a continuation of the full-depth reconstruction Killough completed on the connection section of Brown Avenue last fall. The work on 18th Street will move onto Main Street Terrace and, once those blocks are near completion, Killough will begin the planned reconstruction of Walnut Avenue from 4th Street to 6th Street including the 4th Street intersection. These full-depth reconstructions include some water distribution improvements, freshly poured 5-foot sidewalks, and new storm water drainage systems. Resident driveways will also receive new concrete approaches as part of the construction.
