2022 sales tax
Beginning April 1st, 2022, the sales tax rate in the City of Osawatomie increased to 9.75%. A half-percent increase was on the November 2021 ballot with voters approving the measure -- revenues are being dedicated to our intensive street repair program "Paving the Way." Get ready for a summer of road work!

The corner of 5th and Main is getting a facelift and Phase I was installed on Friday! The "Mile Zero" bike rack honors our status as the beginning of the nationally recognized Flint Hills Trail State Park and is both a functional bike rack and a great spot to snap a photo! The next time you're downtown, stop and say #IAmAtMileZero!
The powder-coated steel tube rack is funded in part by a grant from the Sunflower Foundation designated for the promotion of recreational trails and was designed by Doherty Steel, the same company who produced the now-iconic arched gateway for the Mile Zero trailhead of the Flint Hills Trail. We're excited to continue introducing art and function to the downtown corridor! Next up? MURALS! Paint is headed our way this spring...
