City Welcomes Egg-cellent News

The Osawatomie City Council voted to approve Ordinance No. 3791, permitting the keeping of certain fowl within the City limits. This means that residents are now able to keep and raise chickens on their property after proper permitting and structures are in place to ensure safe, sanity environments.

There are limits on the number of hens allowed per property, based on the size of the lot, and owners must have neighbor and/or landlord approval and approved permits in place.

City Forming Water Study Committee

Passed at the February 11th, 2021, City Council meeting, Resolution 844 directs the City Manager to form a committee of community members and City Councilmembers to further investigate and research the condition of the City's municipal water plant and our water distribution system. The plant and our distribution network are both in need of varying degrees of repair and the committee will work with the City Manager and our municipal engineers to identify areas of concern and identify possible funding opportunities or other solutions.
