The “List of 55” for 2022

Curious about what sort of work City staff and the Governing Body will be undertaking in 2022?

At the January 13th, 2022, meeting of City Council, a work list of 55 key projects was presented and approved to serve as the framework for major work to accomplish and work toward this year.

Some of these projects are continuations from work started in 2020 and 2021, and others are brand new endeavors. Projects range from installing bike racks in key areas of town to critical repair work on the wastewater treatment plant and other pieces of major infrastructure.

Interested in what projects made the Big List for 2022? Check out the file below, and read more about the initiative in the agenda packet for the January 13th, 2022, council meeting.

Additionally, you can listen to City Manager Mike Scanlon talk about the List of 55 in his January 14th, 2022, “Weekend Update” YouTube video!

Public Library Temporary COVID-19 Changes in Operation

In an effort to mitigate risks related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and acting on the authority granted by state law through Resolution No. 777 (May 2020) certain pandemic-related policies and procedures within the City of Osawatomie have been reevaluated by City Manager Mike Scanlon.

Due to the Osawatomie Public Library’s extensive interface with the public, recent increases in local COVID-19 cases, school closures, and staffing shortages in an already small staff, the Osawatomie Public Library will be requiring masks be worn by patrons and staff members until at least January 21st, 2022. Masks will be made available at the Library to any patron or staff member, and the staff is preparing contactless pickup options for materials and checkouts, including curbside pickup and other convenient options.

In addition, programming and other supplemental activities are suspended through January 18th, 2022 to coincide with the closures of Osawatomie USD #367 schools. Library activity during that time will be limited to regular browsing, material pickup and checkout, and limited numbers of public access computers. There will be no storytimes, youth hangouts or play spaces, or adult programming.

These changes are being made out of an abundance of caution and are temporary. They will be reevaluated and adjusted as directed by the City Manager and the Library Director.

Other City facilities and offices will be reevaluating their own COVID-19 mitigation needs beginning Tuesday, January 18th, 2022 to see if other temporary policy or procedure changes are necessary as allowed by Resolution No. 777.
