Drug investigation results in arrest of Osawatomie man

A narcotics investigation spanning several months in length culminated Thursday in the arrest of an Osawatomie man.

Philip J. Slater, 40, was arrested by Osawatomie Police at approximately 11:40 a.m. Thursday in the 300 block of East Main Street following a completed controlled buy of methamphetamine.

Slater was later transported to the Miami County Jail, where he was booked on multiple felony charges, including three counts of distribution of a controlled substance, one count of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute, three counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance using a telecommunication device, one count of possession of marijuana, one count of possession of drug paraphernalia and four counts of

failure to affix a drug tax stamp.

“Due to the complex nature of these types of investigations, the case is still considered ongoing,” Osawatomie Police Department Deputy Chief David Stuteville said.

Because the case remains under investigation, Stuteville said Slater could face additional charges in the coming days.
